Types of Traumatic Birth Injuries
Birth injury is acknowledge rare, 0.6-0.8 percent of live births. The point is that when they occur, they are extremely traumatizing and often can be avoided. Typically, involving persons who responsible include:
• Doctors
• Nurses
• Other health workers
Types of birth injuries
Birthing injury may increase because of Difficult or traumatic births. Errors seem take a part the birth is already difficult one. Big babies and premature babies are more prone to injury. Birth tools can be a factor of birth injuries during perform birthing. Improper use of any birth tools easily injure the infant.
A number of traumatic birth injuries include:
• brain damage – this may be due to several conditions before, during and after birth. One of the most common reason is not enough oxygen to the child’s brain, or fetal hypoxia. This can lead to life of persons with disabilities.
• spinal cord injury – improper use of medical instruments during delivery lead to a baby’s spinal cord injury.
• Cerebral Palsy – This condition is also caused by deprivation of oxygen or other damage, which effects the brain. As a result is delays in the development of the child, abnormal body movements, vision and hearing control, and the lack of muscle control.
• Shoulder Dystocia – This injury happen when the baby’s shoulder becomes stuck behind the mother’s pelvic bone during birthing. The excessive force to dislodge the baby results injury.
• Erb paralysis in – as a result of shoulder dystocia, this trauma is damage to nerves in the hand of a child. This can lead to permanent paralysis or limited motion of the shoulder, arm and hand muscles. Read the rest of this entry »
